Bench mark (BM)

The term 'Bench mark (BM)' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A permanent or temporary monument of known elevation above sea level, used for vertical control at a construction site. A point of known or assumed elevation used as a reference in determining other elevations. A permanent reference point (elevation) used in a survey'.
